What is Wonder Studio?
We run process art and play classes for 1.5-4 year-olds and their grownups, located in Monticello, NY.
Process art means we focus on the process, not the product. We view art as play!
Through playing with open-ended materials that can be explored in infinite ways, your child will be able to convey their important ideas and make sense of the world around them.
At Wonder Studio, we are a welcoming space where everyone can show up as their authentic selves.
We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, which comes from Reggio Emilia, Italy. It is child-centered and community-centered, and believes that every child, no matter their age, can share their valuable ideas if we offer them many “languages” with which to express themselves. These languages can be materials such: as clay, painting, light projection, drawing, building, and a hundred more.

Wonder Studio is led by Annabelle Baylin, a local educator and mom in Monticello, NY. She has a Master’s degree in Early Childhood General and Special Education and is a certified teacher. Annabelle worked as a teacher in Reggio-inspired early childhood classrooms across NYC for 10 years and is very excited to bring this approach to Sullivan County.
In addition to Reggio-inspired teaching, Annabelle is also deeply passionate about social justice, mindfulness in education, music, and the science of reading. She co-developed a framework to teach values in the classroom, which you can learn more about at
intentionalchild.com. Annabelle looks forward to bringing aspects of all of her educational interests to Wonder Studio.
Register for Classes
We offer 6-week semesters, so you sign up for all six weeks when you register. Classes meet 1x/week for six weeks.
Our classes are caregiver and child classes, which means you attend with your child and facilitate their exploration of the materials.
The materials will be set up each week in a way that invites your child to play and you and your child can move freely throughout the studio, following your child's interests. Every week, there will be different ways to engage with the materials. For example, one week there might be painting with a variety of brushes and the following week there will be natural materials to paint with. One week we might explore clay with tools, and another week with our feet! Over the six weeks, your child will have the opportunity to engage deeply with the materials we offer.
Our materials will all be non-toxic, but not necessarily taste-safe. If your child is still mouthing, you might consider waiting to sign up until they are a little older. You know your child best!
Fall 2025 Classes for 1.5- to 4-year-olds:
Tuesdays from 10-11am: 10/28, 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9
Thursday from 4-5pm: 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11
